In Spring 2023, as part of CTM Vorspiel, SoundsAbout presents installations and performances revolving around the inquiry of machine and/or human at the project space Zwitschermaschine.
This series encompasses the plural meaning of the word “GENERATIONS”– whether it be with a computer or through lineage and human relationships.
Im Frühjahr 2023 präsentiert SoundsAbout im Rahmen von CTM Vorspiel im Projektraum Zwitschermaschine Installationen und Performances, die sich um die Frage von Maschine und/oder Mensch drehen.
Diese Reihe umfasst die plurale Bedeutung des Wortes „GENERATIONS“ – sei es mit einem Computer oder durch Abstammung und menschliche Beziehungen.

Virtual sound objects for a non-visible exhibition is a computer-controlled sound installation written in Supercollider. The installation is the conclusion of an artistic research project consisting in the codification of sounds synthesised and identified according to their real referents in the material world. These sound designs are extended beyond their originally defined materiality and into a speculative aesthetic realm, conducted through ever evolving algorithmic patterns.
About the Artist:
Jorge Vicario (1989) is a sound artist and researcher in computer music .
He lives in Berlin and studies at UdK, and is making an instrument based on wave table synthesis as a Master project. He has a multidisciplinary background related to sound and music; his early Noise music projects were documented by S.O.N.M, Reductive Music, Desetxea and Tecnonucleo. Jorge has written and performed seven pieces for tape loop entitled Movements for elastic tape . these pieces were presented as exhibition and installation at Madrid (Reina Sofia Museum, CentroCentro), Berlin (T.A.T.V. / Ausland). He produces the radio program Computer music radio journal at Cashemere Radio, Berlin. His radio project El futuro era tu cuerpo , hosted by Reina Sofia Museum, was awarded with the Our many Europes grant.
Virtual sound objects for a non-visible exhibition ist eine computergesteuerte Klanginstallation, die in Supercollider geschrieben wurde. Die Installation stellt den Abschluss einer künstlerischen Forschungsprojektes dar, das Klänge kodifizierte, die ihrer materiellen Bezüge zur realen Welt entsprechend synthetisiert und identifiziert wurden. Diese Klangentwürfe werden über ihre ursprünglich definierte Materialität hinaus in eine spekulative ästhetische Sphäre ausgedehnt, die durch sich ständig weiterentwickelnde algorithmische Muster geleitet wird.
Über den Künstler:
Jorge Vicario (1989) ist Klangkünstler und forscht im Bereich der Computermusik. Er lebt in Berlin undstudiert an der Universität der Künste.
Als Masterprojekt baut er ein Instrument, das auf Wavetable-Synthese basiert. Sein multidisziplinärer Hintergrund in Klang und Musik wurde unter anderem in frühen Noise-Musikprojekte von S.O.N.M , Reductive Music , Desetxea und Tecnonucleo dokumentiert. Jorge hat sieben Stücke für Tonbandschleifen mit dem Titel Movements for elastic tape geschrieben und aufgeführt. Diese Stücke wurden als Ausstellung und Installation in Madrid (Reina Sofia Museum, CentroCentro) und Berlin (T.A.T.V. / Ausland) präsentiert. Er produziert außerdem die Radiosendung Computermusik-Radiojournal bei Cashemere Radio Berlin. Sein Radioprojekt El futuro era tu cuerpo , das vom Reina Sofia Museum veranstaltet wird, wurde mit dem Our many Europes Stipendium ausgezeichnet.
* SoundsAbout is a collaboration between the Master’s program Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at the University Berlin and the gallery Zwitschermaschine, offering a project space to present and discuss, question and celebrate the work and ideas of our students and their guests for three months every year.
