Roy Carroll is an Irish musician and composer, based in Berlin. He works primarily with electroacoustic media; which includes transducers, synthesis, feedback, audio recordings, amplification, software, – auditory and psychoacoustic phenomena even. With these materials, Carroll instigates processes that ruthlessly investigate timbre, articulation, gesture, form and so on. Feedback, the horror of an instrument hearing itself, is a recurring component of Carroll’s work, creating multi-layered forms that continually renegotiate the transformation of electrical audio signals into disturbed air.

Roy Carroll ist ein irischer Musiker und Komponist, der in Berlin lebt. Er arbeitet vor allem mit elektroakustischen Medien; dazu gehören Schallwandler, Synthese, Rückkopplung, Audioaufnahmen, Verstärkung, Software sowie auditive und psychoakustische Phänomene. Mit diesen Materialien stößt Carroll Prozesse an, die gnadenlos Klangfarbe, Artikulation, Gestik, Form und so weiter untersuchen. Rückkopplung, der Horror eines Instruments, das sich selbst hört, ist ein wiederkehrender Bestandteil von Carrolls Arbeit, der vielschichtige Formen schafft, die die Transformation von elektrischen Audiosignalen in gestörte Umgebungsluft ständig neu verhandeln.

Emilio Gordoa is a Mexican composer, sound artist, percussionist /vibraphonist based in Berlin since 2012.
He’s involved in numerous projects including his work as a soloist and in collaboration with theater, dance, performance and other interdisciplinary frameworks. Emilio’s special focus is on on experimental music, sound art, noise, free jazz, improvisation and contemporary music. He is redefining the vibraphone as a source, treating it with preparations and extended techniques and is a busy composer as well, writing graphic scores for a variety of ensembles, large and small, for theater, documentary films and audio-visual performances. In recent years his work has also been presented in the form of sound installations and in 2016 he founded the platform WildSonico. In 2019 Emilio was the Improviser in Residence of the Moers Festival and he received an honorary mention by the Prix Ars Electronica in 2021.
Gordoa has collaborated with many international artists such as: Jérôme Noetinger, Ingrid Schomliner, Nate Wooley, John Edwards, Chikako Kaido, Ken Vandermark, German Bringas, John Butcher, Fred Frith, Hamid Drake, Misha Marks, Evan Parker, Axel Dörner, Yuko Kaseki, Tobias Delius, Otomo Yoshihide, Ignaz Schick, Harri Sjöströjm, Lena Czerniawska, Jaap Blonk, Burkhard Beins and Ute Wassermann, among others… He’s a current member of Splitter Orchester, Gordoa-Malfon-Edwards-Narvesen, Circuit Training, RadiationiX, Para.keets, Corso, Dörner-Thieke-Vorfeld-Gordoa, and M0VE.

Emilio Gordoa ist ein mexikanischer Komponist, Klangkünstler, Perkussionist und Vibraphonist, der seit 2012 in Berlin lebt.
Er ist an zahlreichen Projekten beteiligt, darunter seine Arbeit als Solist und in Zusammenarbeit mit Theater, Tanz, Performance und anderen interdisziplinären Bereichen. Emilios besonderer Fokus liegt auf experimenteller Musik, Klangkunst, Noise, Free Jazz, Improvisation und zeitgenössischer Musik. Er definiert das Vibraphon als Quelle neu, behandelt es mit Präparationen und erweiterten Techniken und ist auch ein vielbeschäftigter Komponist, der grafische Partituren für eine Vielzahl von großen und kleinen Ensembles, für Theater, Dokumentarfilme und audiovisuelle Performances schreibt. In den letzten Jahren wurde seine Arbeit auch in Form von Klanginstallationen präsentiert und 2016 gründete er die Plattform WildSonico. 2019 war Emilio Gordoa „Improviser in Residence“ des Moers Festivals und erhielt 2021 eine Ehrenauszeichnung des Prix Ars Electronica.

Kriton Beyer is a Greek-German musician and composer, who – as a performer and improviser – mainly works with the harmonium and the daxophone. He studied musicology in Greece where he collaborated with a variety of local music groups as well as musicians like Sakis Papadimitriou and Floros Floridis. In 2004 he moved to Berlin, where he got heavily involved in the improvised music scene of the city. Since then he has worked with many musicians like Phil Minton, Audrey Chen, Steve Noble, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Axel Dörner, Liz Kosack, Kresten Osgood, Tristan Honsinger, Tomomi Adachi, Richard Scott, Willi Kellers, Matthias Bauer, Antonis Anissegos, Olaf Rupp, Alexei Borisov, Els Vandeweyer, Harri Sjöström, Nicola Hein and Liz Allbee, dancers like Yuko Kaseki and visual artists like Akiko Nakayama. Kriton Beyer founded the “FRAGMENTATION ORCHESTRA“, is a member of the electroacoustic trio “uproot” and the ensembles “Redox Reaction” and FDBK EXPT.
In his work with the harmonium, Kriton Beyer uses both the natural sound of his instrument and “traditional” playing techniques as well as preparations, objects and extended techniques, while his daxophone play is characterized by a very personal musical and sonic aesthetic, and an unconventional technique, sometimes also supported by the subtle use of electronics. As an improvising musician, he has performed throughout Europe. His compositions are usually characterized by conceptualism.
Kriton Beyer has also conceived and commissioned the music software CinePrompt®, which was specially developed for the use for live musical performance and live recording to films.
Kriton Beyer also curates and manages the concert series and record label “THE PROCRUSTEAN BED”, dedicated to Experimental & Improvised Music.

In seiner Arbeit mit dem Harmonium nutzt Kriton Beyer sowohl den natürlichen Klang seines Instruments und „traditionelle“ Spieltechniken als auch Präparate, Objekte und erweiterte Techniken, während sein Daxophonspiel von einer sehr persönlichen musikalischen und klanglichen Ästhetik und einer unkonventionellen Technik geprägt ist, manchmal auch unterstützt durch den subtilen Einsatz von Elektronik. Als improvisierender Musiker ist er in ganz Europa aufgetreten. Seine Kompositionen sind meist konzeptuell geprägt.
Kriton Beyer hat auch die Musiksoftware CinePrompt® konzipiert und in Auftrag gegeben, die speziell für den Einsatz bei musikalischen Live-Performances und Live-Aufnahmen zu Filmen entwickelt wurde. Kriton Beyer kuratiert und leitet außerdem die Konzertreihe und das Plattenlabel „THE PROCRUSTEAN BED“, das sich der experimentellen und improvisierten Musik widmet.

Don Malfon (Alfonso Muñoz) is a Catalan musician, composer, avant-garde and experimental saxophonist, innovator and free improviser with more than 40 albums published.
His particular approach is a totally acoustic sonic exploration. It is an investigation that has led to the development of certain extended techniques in order to discover the ultimate limits of the sound of the saxophone and to try to create new sounds on the instrument.
His work falls into the genres of „noise music“, experimental music, free improvisation, free jazz, and/or current avant-garde music.

Seine besondere Herangehensweise ist eine rein akustische Erforschung des Klangs. Es handelt sich um eine Untersuchung, die zur Entwicklung bestimmter erweiterter Techniken geführt hat, um die ultimativen Grenzen des Saxophonklangs zu entdecken und zu versuchen, neue Klänge auf dem Instrument zu erzeugen.
Sein Werk lässt sich in die Genres „Geräuschmusik“, experimentelle Musik, freie Improvisation, Free Jazz und/oder aktuelle Avantgarde-Musik einordnen.
